"Africa" by David Diop ( Senegal)

The poem was about how the africans were treated and how they grew.  It talked about how hard they worked and how much they were mistreated as slaves. How they worked really hard under the hot sun. How they have the signs of working hard, their bent backs and saying yes to the whip. The tough worriors and their bitter taste of liberty.

I thought that this poem is very discriptive on how they lived before and how much they were mistreated. It makes me think that they worked really hard to fight for their rights and to be treated fairly. They got their rights with hard work.

Mexico my Mexico,
filled with hardworkin and noble people
full of spirit and energy
effects of tequila that naturally runs in our veins
soccer fanatics that are 100% chivas fans
Ohhh yeah Mexico my Mexico!!!!

" The Last Judgement" by: Karel Capek

The last judgement was a when Kugler was an assassin that killed nine people. He didn't have any bad feeling doing it. When he killed the ninth person,  which was a policeman. The policeman shot him seven times and this time he didn't escape. When he's soul left his body he had to wait to see where the judges would send him. God was a witness and the people he killed were the judges. I think that God can see every little thing you do, hes not a judge but he is a witness who sees it all. Since Kugler killed all those people for no reason, he couldn't have gone to heaven. God told him he was sentenced to hell for lifelong. I though this story is true and that God will see all you do and what ever you do will reflect to where you will go. To heaven or to hell!!!

I think that the consequences  for living a bad life is that it will reflect to where you go.  I like the story because I think its really true. I do believe in Karma, it has happen to me and to other people. Humans shouldn't be mean and inhuman to other human because all you do to other you will have to pay. I think that when you pay for what you have done its going to be worst for you. Thats just how I feel.

"Firts Confession" - by: Frank O'Connor

Jackie was going to have his first confession because he was going to do the first communion He was really scared because he thought he was going to burn in hell because all the sins he had committed. He makes an excuse that his teeth hurts so that he doesn't have to go, but he doe have to go on Saturday at his own time. He ends up going with his sister because his mom has something to do.When hes at the conffecionary with the priest and he tells him its his firs confession and tells the father
all his sins.  In Ireland its important to follow their religion. They have to confess in order to make their first communion. The first communion is part of the seven sacraments.

The church I go to is very big and its sometimes gets full of people and sometimes not. The activities that the church engages in are celebrating the Lady of Guadalupe, Easters, the coming of Jesus and some other ones I can't remember. The church celebrates and prepares us for what ever the event is coming and explains to us what it is if we don't already know. The church's beliefs are that we believe in God and the Virgin Mary. We believe that God gives his life for us and that the Virgin Mary gave birth to a child by the power of the spirit. I would like to stick to my church and not change it, just because that's how I was raised and I like the way the priest explains the things of life and the way we should follow. I like my churches , although I don't go every Sunday.

-Centreal Station- Brazil

This movie was about Dora and Josue , they neet when Josues mom goes to her so that she writes a letter for Josues' dad because he wants to meet him. Josues' mom died and he had nobody anymore and nowhere to go. Dora took him with her, but thetn she sold him to this couple. She felt bad afterwards and went to get him back. Dora promissed  that she would take Josue to meet his dad. Along the way they had many obstacles to get to where his dad is.

Dora
and Josue becomoe a family throughout the film. They become a little family because they have no one else and they had something in common. Their relationship is nothing like mine with my family because we are usually always together and we do have our momments where we distant from each other for a pretty long time, but then  we get back together. I'm usually the one that makes my parents proud so far, and they hope I continue like that ; ) In my opinion, family is very important because they are my almost everything. I think that family should always stick together through good and bad, family is very important to me and it makes me upset when we are mad at each other because of indruders. Families should always stick together.

"The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World " by Gabriel Garcia

The Handsomest man in the World is about a man that appears near the sea. Two kids are playing near the sean and they see something and they go check what it is. Its a dead man. hen the word is spread some man came to take him to the nearest house. They are all amazed by him, specially the woman. They see that he is the most handsome and muscular man they have ever seen around. At some point the man get jealous and want to drown him again. Then they feel bad and prepare him the greatest funeral.

The kind of funeral that I want for me when I die is a happy funeral. I want my family and freinds to be happy. I want this because when I die is because it's Gods will. I've never been in a funeral, I get depressed, but It all happends for a reason. I don't think its similar to how I want my funeral to be, but I hope that they would think similar to how I do. What this story reveals to me about the  Latin  American's attitudes toward death is that when they do funerals its very important on how they do it and what they want for their dead people.

"No Dogs Bark" by Juan Rulfo

This story is about a father and his son going to a village. The time was dark and they could barely see anything in the dark. The father asked him if he saw anything or heard anyhting . The kid said he didn't although he did hear dogs bark. The father treated him very indifferent, he was a little cruel with him. I guess that he father was sad because the mother had died and he blamed his son.

When I have my own kids, I will try my hardest to make then understand what life is about and how to handle problems. When they have a problem I will talk to them to help then solve it the right way. I hope I don' become like Ignacios' father, I want to be a good parent and have them grow with good manners and good beliefs. I woun't be like him because my parents have tought me so much and how to be a good person, so I will pass that on to my kids.

-BORDERS- by Thomas King

Borders is a story that shows us how proud and authentic people can be. When the mother and her son go to visit Leticia, they face a step that we might all have gone through at some point. The mom and the kid were  blackfoot and an officer asked if they were American or Candian. The mom as we know if very proud of her background and where she comes from, so she couldn't choose either  one. She was trying to get her point across, an at the end she did and people understood were she come from.

What is more important to you: your nationality or your ethnicity?? Why?
In my opinion they are both important ,but to me ethnicity is more important, thats just for the simple reason that I am pround of my background... I'm very mexican ♥
